How to Use Targeted Advertising

In Southeast Asia, customer expectations of personalised advertising are high, but brands need to deliver on them.
FREMONT, CA: Nearly every individual in Southeast Asia lives their life centred on their smartphone. They act as a conduit for myriad activities, including work, socialising, and increasing spending patterns. To keep up with the modern customer, brands urgently need to address their digital transformation as Singapore sets the bar for 5G connection.
By 2025, smartphones will account for more than 80 per cent of connections in the SEA, and consumers now expect businesses to help them with their everyday requirements. Regrettably, however, many local companies need to address these demands.

An analysis of four billion customer interactions for the SEA Customer Engagement Benchmarks Report revealed that 85.2 per cent of Singaporeans receive useless entertainment notifications. Only 16 per cent of Singaporeans say they regularly receive updates from firms about goods they like.
Nearly 75 per cent of Filipinos and Indonesians claimed to receive relevant news and personalised content recommendations. Finally, 72 per cent of Vietnamese customers said that retail businesses need to send them meaningful product updates.
These figures signify huge missed chances for SEA brands to connect with and develop enduring customer relationships. Sending out countless spray-and-pray smartphone notifications will only turn away clients. However, a study found that brands are almost three times more likely to see sales conversions when mobile in-app messaging and website banners are personalised depending on the user experience.
Based on the consumer journey, banking and financial firms will experience three times higher conversions from personalised SMS messages. The better the conversion rate, the better the ROI for marketers.
Invest in AI and Automation
Businesses can use their data and undertake rigorous customer testing for artificial intelligence (AI). An improved campaign variation can be driven by automated A/B and multivariate testing, increasing brand ROI.
Streamline Text Alerts to Behaviour
Flight and banking warnings are just two examples of text message alerts. Twenty-eight per cent of buyers in SEA prefer receiving delivery updates and alerts by SMS. The number of purchases cancelled as a result of surprise cancellations by forgetful customers is decreased by regular shipment updates that remind customers of their orders.
With a link confirming the purchase and the status of the charge after the first 24 hours, these alerts can be sent in a bulk text to clients who have just placed orders.
Boost Metrics by Learning the Best Time to Send
Every consumer is different, and push alerts include emails and text messages. Some individuals prefer to read them while drinking their morning coffee, others after getting into a cab, and many people love to receive offers when they go shopping.
Brands may schedule the times when customers are most likely to check their messages or click on push notifications so that they can offer recommendations for products or content and set up upsell possibilities. Metrics like open rates, click rates, and conversion rates can all be tracked by AI. AI can also programmatically schedule the most crucial campaigns.
The benefits of adopting these personalisation techniques are instantly felt by the consumer. The alerts stop being a bother and start being useful for their trip and current requirements. Higher brand loyalty and, ultimately, higher lifetime value (LTV) and revenue will result from this. In the coming year, sustained growth will determine how well businesses engage and keep their customers.
