Fremont, CA: An attribution model helps marketers determine and allocate credit to marketing touch points for clicks, conversions, and sales. The first interaction is attributed
First interaction attribution, also known as first click attribution or first touch attribution is responsible for converting prospects into paying clients. The campaign that prompted the first interaction between a customer and the business receives 100% credit under this model. The first interaction model may benefit marketing professionals who primarily generate demand rather than rely on conversions. It emphasizes the campaigns that introduce customers to the brand, regardless of their success.
Attribution based on last-touch
The last interaction model is similar to the first interaction model in that it focuses on the most recent interaction between the customer and the business. There may be other important interactions that influence a customer's purchase decision that is overlooked by this model.
The last non-direct click
It is a variation of the last interaction model that gives 100% credit to the last direct encounter before conversion. Multichannel marketing strategies are difficult to understand because the model does not consider interactions before the final interaction. Products with a short buying cycle are best suited to the last non-direct click model.
Attribution in linear form
As a first step towards multi-touch attribution, linear attribution assigns credit to all touch points, regardless of their position in the sequence or influence on the purchasing process. The linear attribution model is easier to explain to clients or stakeholders when evaluating marketing campaigns. As well as showing how each marketing channel contributes to conversions, brands can also use linear attribution models.
Attributing time decay
An essential component of multi-touch attribution analysis is the time decay model, which gives more credit to conversions resulting from interactions. Those sources or touches that are closest to the conversion are given the most credit in this model. Businesses that sell high-consideration items, such as cars and jewelry, benefit from this model because long-term relationships are a crucial part of the sales process.
A position-based attribution system
Prior to conversions, position-based attribution models emphasize the importance of the first and last interactions a client has with a company. A fixed credit is assigned for each conversion based on the customer's first and last points of contact with the brand. Every other touch in between receives 20% credit, while the first and last touches receive 40 percent credit. For businesses with multiple touch points and conversion orders, a position-based attribution model may be beneficial.
